INDEPENDENCE – Randy P. Delagardelle, 58, of Independence, Iowa died Thursday evening, May 12, 2016 at Unity Point - St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Randy was born on March 8, 1958 in Waterloo, Iowa the son of John P. and Joan B. (Kerkove) Delagardelle. He was a 1976 graduate of the Jesup High School, Jesup, Iowa. On September 12, 1981 he was married to Maria E. Kleitsch in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairbank, Iowa. The couple resided in Independence where he was employed as an Equipment Operator with the Iowa Department of Transportation.

He was an avid hunter and was an instructor in the Hunter Safety Program. He was a member of the Buchanan County Wildlife Association, and was very creative with his woodworking projects. He loved spending time with his family and friends sharing his great sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife Maria; two children: Andrew Delagardelle, Independence, and Amber (Jeff) Lorenzen, Independence; one granddaughter, Kylie Lorenzen, with another grandchild on the way; two sisters: Bonnie (Leonard) Harting, Jesup, and Kim (Mike) Lichty, LaPorte City, Iowa; three brothers: Mike (Barb) Delagardelle, Jesup, Dale (Paula) Delagardelle, Jesup, and Scott (Toni) Delagardelle, Marion, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

Randy was preceded by his parents John and Joan Delagardelle; and father-in-law, Edward C. Kleitsch.

A Celebration of Life Service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 15 at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, with Sharon Bainbridge officiating. Friends called from 1 p.m. to services Sunday at the funeral home.
