Maureen Kay Kinney Rasmussen, 71, of Independence, Iowa and formerly of Maquoketa, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at the Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue, Iowa.

A celebration of Maureen's life will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, March 7, 2015, at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Burial will be in the Lost Nation, Iowa Cemetery, at a later date.

Maureen Kay McAuliffe was born on October 10, 1943 in Clinton, Iowa to Morris John and Wynona Lorraine McAuliffe. She graduated from Lost Nation High School. She married Charles Kinney on April 28, 1961 in Toronto, Iowa. To this union five children were born: Kevin, Michelle, Joelle, Charleen and Robbi.

Maureen and Charles farmed in the Calamus area for several years. She later moved to Maquoketa and pursued her management career with Hardee's.

Maureen was a member of the Church of the Living Water in Independence and participated in the Bell Choir at the East Town Care Center and at West Village. She enjoyed gardening and playing cards.

Those left to honor her memory include her children Kevin (Janet) Kinney and their children, Joshua and Jacob of Sharonville, OH; Michelle Kinney of Zwingle, IA, along with her children Robert and Charles Hancock; Joelle Stoddard of Erie, IL and her children Connie and Michael Nicholsen, Zachery (Jessi Brown) Stoddard, Derek and Marissa Stoddard and Nick (Kristen Swift) Stoddard; Charleen (Joe) Kilburg and their children Jade and Ryder of LaMotte, IA; and Robbi Haase and her children Haley and Hayden of Circle Pine, MN. She was blessed with 9 great-grandchildren. In addition she is survived by a brother Gene (Rachel) McAuliffe of Ruskin, FL; sisters Joan (Richard "Ozz") Osborne and Diane (Keith) McAuliffe Bruns, both of Dubuque, IA; and a sister-in-law, Mary McAuliffe of Delmar, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Robert, John and Daniel McAuliffe.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Maureen Kay Kinney Rasmussen memorial fund has been established.
