Mary E. Fettkether, 80, of Oelwein, died on Sunday evening, Sept. 13, 2009 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, with the Rev. Harry Koelker officiating.

Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at Oelwein.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home where there will be a parish scripture service at 6:30 p.m.
Memorials may be given in her name to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein.

Mary is survived by three brothers, Robert Fettkether of Cedar Rapids, Harold Fettkether and Norbert Fettkether both of Oelwein, one sister Patricia (Al) Chidester of Evansdale and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Charles and Leon Fettkether.

Mary Evelyn Fettkether was born Aug. 27, 1929 at Fairbank, Iowa, the daughter of Martin Robert and Genevieve Agnes (Kolb) Fettkether.

Mary worked at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein as a cook for six years, then at Raytheon for two years, at City Laundering Co. in Oelwein for 10 years, and later at Modern Cleaners for two years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. Mary provided child care out of her home in Oelwein for many years. She had been a resident at Ravenwood Nursing & Rehab Health Center in Waterloo for the last eight years.
