CHAMPION HUSKER OF
BUCHANAN COUNTY NAMED

INDEPENDENCE, Ia., Nov. 4. – Special: The corn husking contest for Buchanan County was held Saturday, and Leslie Gissel was the winner of first place. Ed Pilcher won second and Donald Budzine third. The contest was held on the A. G. Kayser farm a few miles northwest of this city. Mr. Gissel, in 80 minutes of husking, had 1,366.1 pounds, Pilcher, 1,267.9 and Budzine, 1,183.3. In the contest held last year, Gissel and Pilcher were opponents, and Gissel won out, by 1.4 bushels.
