Jesup, Sept. 10. – The special election held here last Saturday to vote on the question whether or not the city should be bonded for $5,000 for a waterworks system, carried by a decisive majority. Both men and women participated in the election. Polls were held in the former Jesup Critic office and the city councilmen acted as judges of election. They were F. C. Walker, Fred. Tunks, Theodore Weber, and C. V. Christopher, Wm. Golden, city clerk, acted as clerk of election. The result of the election has caused great rejoicing as the town has never had fire protection other than that might be afforded by a small tank supplied by a windmill. Whether work on the new improvement will begin this fall or not has not been decided, but as the season is getting late it is probable work will not be begun until next spring.
