NEW ORPHANS HOME

Waverly, June 1 – The new orphan’s home of the Lutheran Synod of Iowa and other states, recently completed at a cost of $35,000, was formally dedicated Thursday in the presence of 5,000 people. Excursion trains were run from all directions and upward of 1,000 people came from Dubuque alone. The exercises were held in a large pavilion engaged for the occasion. Addresses were made by Rev. F. A. Schaffnit, superintendent of the institution; Rev. F. Siefkes of Edwards, Iowa; Rev. G. K. Zeillinger, of Oelwein; and Rev. Mr. Wadix of Andrew, Iowa. The home is located on the western outskirts of the city and is a handsome structure beautifully situated.
