In Response To: Copy of mother's birth certificate (Darleen M. Price)

The original birth certificate under the name Gritsonis is sealed per court order. You can petition to unseal it and also to unseal the adoption records. The only birth certificate readily available is under Marjorie Gowin.

Anyway, I did some researching for you and believe that Opal Marie Jordan and Theodore or Tom J. Gritsonis are your mother's birth parents which you will need to confirm. They were divorced in Boone County in early 1920 (Boone County District Court, Iowa Divorce case #13720) This divorce case is not sealed and will contain the date and place of the marriage. Hope this all helps a little.

Newspaper Legal Notice:
To Theodore Gritsonis, Defendant:
You are hereby notified that on or before October 9, 1919, there will be on file in the office of the Clerk of the District Court of Boone County, Iowa, the petition of Opal Gritsonis, plaintiff claiming and asking for a divorce from you on the ground of desertion and asking for the possession of the minor child born to said Opal Gritsonis and you as the issue of your said marriage, and for alimony. (For particulars you will see the petition.) And unless you appear thereto and defend on or before noon of the second day of the October Term, 1919, of the District Court of Boone County, Iowa, to be begun and held in the Court House at Boone, Iowa, on the 20th day of October, 1919, your default will be entered and judgment and decree rendered against you thereon.
