Cecelia McGlynn, 87, Boone, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000 at the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Boone with Rev. Clem Currans officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Boone. Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel in Boone on Tuesday from noon to 9 p.m. where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be given to the Sacred Heart Church or Sacred Heart School, both of Boone, or the Alzheimer's Association.

Cecelia Goecke, daughter of Joseph and Mary Dunck Goecke, was born Feb. 18, 1913 at Mt. Carmel, Iowa. She graduated from Our Lady of Mount Carmel High School. She then attended the Wisconsin Academy of Cosmetic Art, graduating in 1939. She married John McGlynn on Jan. 29, 1946 in Mt. Carmel. She was a beautician for shut-ins and nursing home residents in Boone. She also helped her husband manage the family farm northeast of Boone. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Altar and Rosary Societies in Boone.

Survivors are three sons, James McGlynn of Webster City, Daniel McGlynn of Alexandria, Va., and David McGlynn of Boone; a daughter, Mary McGlynn Burns of Marshalltown, a sister, Florentine Forbes of Cedar Rapids, grandchildren, Kathleen and John Burns, Sarah, Molly and Meredith McGlynn.
