Ed Runyan, 59, of 109 South Main Street in Boone, passed away at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester, Iowa on Friday afternoon, November 9, 2007 following a day of hunting with his son, Logan.
He was born on October 10, 1948 in Boone, Iowa the son of Clifford and Lucille (Carlstedt) Runyan.
On May 14, 1972, he married Davene Angle at Stratford, Iowa.
Ed was a 1966 graduate of Newell High School. He worked for the Department of Transportation before joining the Army in 1968 where he served until his discharge in 1970. After returning home from the service, he was again employed by the DOT until 1972, when he began working at 3M in Ames, Iowa where he was currently employed. Ed enjoyed the outdoors whether it was camping, fishing, hunting, or just working in his yard. He loved watching his kids play sports, watching and dancing with Cortney, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. His newest love was his 11-month-old grandson Gabriel Logan.
He was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church.
His father Clifford in May of 1996 and mother Lucille in November of 2005 preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife Davene; 2 sons Roman his wife Bobbi and Logan and his wife Kate and son Gabriel and; 1 daughter Cortney; 5 sisters Betty, Nancy, Colleen and her husband Dick, Linda and her husband Stan, Rose and her husband Mike; 3 brothers Gene, Larry and his wife Kim, and Ron, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Jim and Marla, David and Vicki, Jim and Margo; mother and father-in-law Catherine and Pete; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday morning, November 14th at 10:30 a.m. at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone, Iowa with Pastor Daniel Solomon officiating.
Interment with full military honors conducted by the Boone Veterans Council will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone, Iowa.
Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday morning at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.
The family will be present at Stark-Welin Chapel on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. to greet friends.
