I am a volunteer but I live in California. You have an enviable position to find out more about the Bowen family and your house. I would recommend the following:How to Research Your House: Every home tells a story Paperback – July 15, 2007
by Pamela Brooks (Author).

Also your local public library may have a good stock of newspapers which may yield gossip columns about the new house, the Bowens and their respective obits which may well be the best biographical accounts of the family. Familysearch.org offers free census info and the Frank Bowen family is well represented. Especially recommended is the 1925 census which has lots of detail on Frank, Mary and parents. Findagrave has many family members listed most of whom are probably in the Hudson cemetery. Frank was a farmer but apparently retired or was disabled.
This is a really fun kind of project and I wish you well.
