—Chas. Penne, a seventeen-year-old lad living near Waterloo, was drowned last Sunday morning while in bathing in Crane Creek. The boy couldn’t swim and got beyond his depth. His brother Edward and another boy were with him and the latter saved Edward from a similar death.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born February, 1882 and is buried in St. Francis Cemetery in Dunkerton.
