Biography

Norma J. McGurn, 76, of Waterloo, died at home, on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 of natural causes.

Norma was born on November 5, 1941 in Wellsburg, daughter of Frederick and Bertha "Marie" (Boekhoff) Kannegieter. She graduated from Wellsburg High School.

Norma married Frank E. McGurn in January 1976 in Cedar Falls; they later divorced.

She worked as nurse at the Harmony House, Shell Rock Health Care Center, and most recently at Friendship Village.

She was a member at New Beginnings First Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and her beloved dog, Maizy. Norma treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren.

Survived by her son, Michael (Danielle) McGurn of Waterloo; daughter, Erin; three grandchildren, Peityn, Hanna, and Zane; brother, Steve (Cindy) Kannegieter of Waterloo; and a sister, Judy (Melvin) Roth of Janesville.

Preceded in death by her parents and Frank McGurn.
