April 10, 1954 - September 16, 2018

Vickie JoAnn Aldridge 64, of Waterloo, died of natural causes on September 16, 2018, at Allen UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa.

She was born Vickie JoAnn Johnson, daughter of Joe Harris and Pauline Brown. She was fathered by Sammie L. Brown.

Vickie graduated in 1973 from East Waterloo High School. She married Lewis Aldridge March 6, 1992 in Waterloo. Vicky had a passion for working with children. Much of her professional career was with Tri-County Head Start here in Waterloo, also with “Y’s” Kids. She professed her Christian faith at an early age and was united with Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church. Vicky loved the Lord, her church, choir, fishing and family.

She leaves to mourn her husband, a daughter LaTres Johnson, a son Perry (P.J.) Norman, James McKinney; three sisters, Paulette (Joe) Davis, Deidra (William) Speller, Lenora (Rufus) Jenkins; one brother, Michael (Stephanie) Johnson; fourteen grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She also leaves her sisters in soul, Ruth LeFlore, Readell Brown, Carolyn Cage and Deb Johnson. Additional family will be listed in the church program.

Vicky was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, her parents, one son Shawonyta Norman, her loving aunt Wilhelmina Austin and Uncle Bill (Willie L. Richmond Sr.).

Services will be noon Friday, September 21, at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 710 Broadway Street.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, September 20, at Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, 915 Willow Street also in Waterloo.

Memorials can be directed to the family at 320 E. 11th Street, where they will receive friends. Services are provided by Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street.
