DeLores was born in Tripoli, Iowa, on January 14, 1929, daughter of the late Ernst and Emma (Kuhrt) Drewis.

Shortly after John passed away on June 10, 1975, DeLores began providing in-home day care, and subsequently worked at St. Edward Elementary School as the “fruit lady” in the school cafeteria, where she retired in 2006. DeLores was a long-time member of St. Edward Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Eagles Lodge in Waterloo, IA. She enjoyed lunch and dinner with friends, playing bingo, watching sports particularly those involving her children and grandchildren (and the Bulls), cooking for Eagles’ potlucks, helping with funeral dinners at St. Edward Catholic Church, and working at the Knights of Columbus.

DeLores’ family would like to thank the staff of Bishop Drumm Care Center, where DeLores spent the last four years, who provided physical and spiritual care to her. DeLores enjoyed daily mass at Bishop Drumm, and the interaction with the residents and staff whether it be in daily activities, meals, or one-on-one conversations.
