Jesup, Iowa – Donna Mae Delagardelle, 91 years old of Jesup, died Friday, April 6, 2018, at ABCM Rehabilitation Center – West Campus, Independence, Iowa, of natural causes.

Donna Mae Steimel was born March 8, 1927, in rural Black Hawk County, Iowa, the daughter of Frank Steimel and Sylvia (Weber) Steimel. She graduated from St. Mary High School, Eagle Center.

On April 8, 1947, she was united in marriage to Roman John Delagardelle at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel, Eagle Center. He preceded her in death in 2003. Together they farmed near Jesup and Gilbertville.

They were dairy farmers and for 10 years they raised chickens. Donna enjoyed baking pies, cookies, and soups. She was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Athanasius Catholic Church, and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Donna is survived by two daughters, Janie Schmit of Jesup, Iowa, Lois Delagardelle of Cedar Falls, Iowa; one son, Steve (Lynette) Delagardelle of Jesup, Iowa; nine grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way; also a brother, Earl (Miriam) Steimel of Waterloo, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Patti Steimel of Waukesha, Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her twin sister, Betty Stiles, three brothers: Robert Steimel, James Steimel and Dennis Steimel (infancy); one son-in-law, Ernie Schmit; and a sister-in-law, Arlene Steimel.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville, Iowa, with burial at the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 10th at White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, where there will be a Catholic Daughters Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials will be directed to Immaculate Conception Church, St. Athanasius Church, Bosco Catholic School System, St. Athanasius School, and the Jesup Ambulance Fund.
