Rudolph E. "Rudy" Kohagen

March 6, 1933 - January 20, 2018

Rudolph E. “Rudy” Kohagen, 84, of Cedar Falls, died at home on Saturday, January 20, 2018. He was born March 6, 1933 in Waverly, Iowa, the son of Rudolph W. and Amanda (Milius) Kohagen.

Rudy married Marilyn Meier on October 12, 1959 at St. John Lutheran Church (Maxfield) near Denver, Iowa. Rudy was a 1951 graduate of Tripoli High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict from February 1953-December 1956.

He was a machinist and inspector for John Deere & Company in Waterloo for 28 years, retiring in 1992. Rudy was a member of Waverly American Legion Post 176 and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Kohagen, of Cedar Falls; his brother, George (Lorraine) Kohagen, of Waverly; his sister, Wilma Raudabaugh, of Waterloo, Iowa; many nieces and nephews, and his “adopted daughter”, Mary (Richard) Jones, of Cedar Falls.

Rudy was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Dorlene Kueker, Leona Zander, Margaret Walther, Mildred Ruehs, and four brothers, Edmund, Willard, Oscar and Melvin Kohagen.

Services will be Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, with burial at Harlington Cemetery in Waverly.

Military honors will be conducted by the Waverly Area Honor Guard. Visitation will be 4—7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church.
