Services:
Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 320 Mulberry Street in Waterloo.

Visitation:
Public visitation will be held Wednesday at Kearns Kimball Chapel where a parish vigil service will be held.

Visitation continues Thursday morning an hour prior to the services at Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Biography--

Ethel M. Bigler, age 92, of Evansdale, Iowa, died Sunday December 31, 2017, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa.

Ethel was born on January 10, 1925, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Louis F. and Eveline E. (Abernathy) Makowsky. She attended Anoka Minnesota high School and graduated with the class of 1943.

She married Donald Henry in 1945 and they were later divorced. She married Donald Bigler in 1974 and he preceded her in death in 2010.

Ethel worked at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo as a LPN for 25 years retiring in 2002. She was an active member of Queen of Peace Parish in Waterloo and helped with the community meals at the church. Ethel enjoyed travel, hunting, fishing and trapping with her husband.

Survivors include three children: Robert F. Henry of Evansdale, Laraine Wahl of Waterloo and David (Mary) Henry of Adel, IA; seven stepchildren: Leona Bigler of Evansdale, Rick (Marilyn) Bigler of Washington state, Joyce (Ron) Stohr of Kentucky, Dan (Cheryl) Bigler of Evansdale, David Bigler of Evansdale, Sandi (Calvin) Horn of Evansdale, and Benjamin (Jill) Bigler of Independence, IA; ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; a significant other, Frank Fenner of Jesup, and her companion, Bootsie the cat.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Bigler; a son, Raymond Henry; six brothers; and three sisters.
