Beverly Jean Werning was born on August 10, 1934, the daughter of Horace D. and Alma I. (Rouse) Edgeton. She was raised in Vinton and graduated from Lincoln High School.

Beverly met Chuck Werning at a roller rink in Vinton and they were married on November 15, 1954. The couple was blessed with three children. In addition to raising a family, Bev and Chuck owned and operated the Coliseum in Oelwein. She also worked as a home health aide for Western Home Communities. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo. Bev and Chuck used to play “Pepper” with their friends and neighbors and she enjoyed going to the Casino to play slot machines. Most of all, she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren!

Bev was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2009; her brother, Hersel Edgeton; and a great-grandson, Aiden. She is survived by her son, Curt (Annie) Werning of Cedar Falls; daughters, Angie (Mike) Ernst and Annette (Larry Diekman) Gordon, both of Waterloo; nine grandchildren, Nikki (Randy) Werning of Elk Run Heights, Ryan (Jessica) Werning of Belle Plaine and Joseph Werning of Chicago; Danny (Stephanie) Werning of Tama and Michael (Heather) Werning of Belle Plaine; Lindsey Ernst of Waterloo and Melissa (Dustin) Knight of Jesup; Stacia Gordon and Ashley (Scott) Ambrose of Waterloo; and eighteen great grandchildren: Madison, Noah, Anna, Jillian, Brooklyn, Bailey, Nate, Cameron, Keagan, Jersey, Parker, Payton, Paeytin, Ariyah, Aubrie, Rylynn, Cora and Kyla.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
