Edgar L. McMurchy, 78, of 4015 Niles St, died Thursday, May 3, 1990, at Allen Memorial Hospital, of natural causes. He was born March 29, 1912, at St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of Andrew M. and Irene Dynes McMurchy.

He married Jane W. Riggs on June 10, 1950, in Bismarck, N.D. He served with the Army during World War II. He was employed as a field scout executive for the Boy Scouts of America and later was an insurance representative.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Craig of Wichita, Kansas; a daughter, Jean Menke of Waterloo; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother.

Private family committal services will be at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623. Public services will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Parrott & Wood Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the First
Presbyterian Church.
