Biography--

Viola B. Lenius, 96, of Waterloo, died Sunday, December 3, 2017 at UnityPoint Allen Hospital.

Viola was born April 30, 1921 in Fayette County, Iowa, daughter of Fred Paul and Bertha (Fink) Brickman. She married Elmer Lenius on July 25, 1941 in Fairbank, Iowa; he preceded her in death on July 11, 2001.

Viola was a homemaker and loving mother. She was a longtime member of Good Shephard Lutheran Church joining with her family shortly after it opened and very active in the church quilting circle.

She is survived by two sons: James E. (Connie) Lenius of Reinbeck and Gary G. (Wanda) Lenius of Mesa AZ; one daughter, Shirley A. (Leonard) Smith of Waterloo; five grandchildren: Toni Marie Jameson, Tyler Smith, Jeffrey Lenius, Carrie Linnenbrink, and Bryn Lenius; six great-grandchildren; One Brother Arlen Brickman of Waverly; and two sisters: Wilma Rueber of Strawberry Point and Frances Sievers of Des Moines.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Elmer; five brothers: Edgar, Clarence, Raymond, Wilbur, and Harold Brickman; and a sister, Evelyn Diercks.
