CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – Gary D. Southard, 74, of Cedar Falls died Sunday, November 26, 2017, at the Cedar Falls Healthcare Center.

He was born May 24, 1943, in Cedar Falls, son of Delmar and Rella Saltzman Southard. He married Jean Ann Ubben on December 24, 1962 in Waterloo.

He was a mechanical engineer with Roskamp Manufacturing for 25 years, Doerfer Engineering for 18 years, and then self-employed for ten years, prior to retiring.

He is survived by his wife, of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Michelle (Matt) Haan of Hudson; three grandsons: Micah (Mirranda), Morgan and McKenzie Haan; mother, Rella Southard of Cedar Falls; three sisters: Diane Searcy of Greeley, CO, Marilyn (Dennis Larsen) Southard of Decorah, and Marsha Kloster of Waterloo; a brother, Gene (Jayne) Southard of Loveland, CO; and a sister-in-law, JoLaine (Paul) Roberts of Lafayette, IN.

Preceded in death by: his father.

Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30 at the Cedar Falls Gospel Hall with burial in Hillside Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29 at Richardson Funeral Service and also for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Falls Gospel Hall for missions.

Gary was born again February 3, 1974. He loved studying his Bible and telling others of his Saviour. As a member of the Cedar Falls Gospel Hall, he took part preaching the Gospel and teaching from God’s Word. He enjoyed traveling, camping, viewing God’s spectacular creation, photography and was a private pilot.
