Biography--

Audrey I. DeHeck, 92, of Waterloo, Iowa, and formerly of Dubuque, passed away peacefully at the West Village in Independence, Iowa, on Saturday, November 18, 2017.

Audrey was born on September 14, 1925, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Harold & Hazel (Barquist) Arney.

She graduated from high school in Des Moines.

Audrey married Donald Leroy DeHeck on September 14, 1945, in Des Moines. Donald passed away January 7, 2000.

She was a member of the Telephone Company Pioneers.

Audrey was a homemaker and also worked many various jobs throughout the years.

Audrey was a hard worker her whole life and never stood still. She was especially fond of the color purple. She loved dancing, playing cards and listening to all music, especially big band and country. She was a talented baker and cook, with Thanksgiving being a special time of the year. She knitted hats for the infants at Covenant Hospital, knitting over 10,000.

Survived by four sons, Timothy (Sue) DeHeck of Omaha, NE, Patrick (Patty) DeHeck of Dubuque, Martin (Debbie) DeHeck of Waterloo, and Daniel DeHeck of Waterloo; four daughters, Cheryl (John) Waters of Lake Forest, CA, Michaela Kruser of Waterloo, Dawn DeHeck of Waterloo and Kelly (Tony) Conrad of Evansdale; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and a brother, Steven Arney of Sacramento, CA.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; and a sister, Maxine Arney.

Audrey was all loving and loved unconditionally.
