Robert Raymond Lakin
October 25, 1927 - November 2, 2017

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – Robert Lakin, 90, of Cedar Falls died Thursday, November 2, 2017 at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls.

He was born October 25, 1927 in Mower County, Minnesota, the son of Harry and Myrtle Thompson Lakin. He married Dorothy Wilson June 11, 1949, at First Baptist Church in Cedar Falls.

Robert graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1945. He was employed in tool and die for Chamberlains in Waterloo from 1945 until his retirement in 1990. He served in the United States Army with the 2nd Mountain Division during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife of Cedar Falls; two sons, Tom (Marcia Rellihan) of Cedar Falls and Jeff (Linda) Lakin of Clinton; four grandsons: David, Drew, Wilson, and Charlie Lakin; and great-granddaughter, Emma Lakin.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: John, Kenneth, and Harry Lakin; and sister, Dorothy Pape.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, November 11, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls, with private family inurnment in the Fairview Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Richardson Funeral Service. Full military honors provided by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post #49.

Memorials may be directed to the church or the Panther Scholarship Club.

Bob was a well-known and avid fan of Cedar Falls High School and the University of Northern Iowa sports and life time member of the Cedar Falls AMVETS.
