Eugene Sack Eddy was born on April 30, 1923, in Black Hawk County, Iowa, the son of Earl and Florence (Sack) Eddy. He grew up in Waterloo and Cedar Falls and graduated from Iowa State Teacher’s College High School. Eugene served his country in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946. During his time in the service, Eugene married Clarice Fletcher on April 28, 1945, in Bolton, Lancashire, England.

Upon his honorable discharge, the couple moved back to Iowa. Eugene was the manager of the electrical service department for the university of Northern Iowa. Upon his retirement in 1981, Eugene and Clarice moved to England for nine years. They moved back to Waterloo in 1990.

Eugene was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, the Cedar Falls Amvets, and the Moose Lodge, where he was a former Governor. He enjoyed genealogy and traveling with his family. Eugene died at the age of 94 on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers; and a sister.

Eugene is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Jim) Davis of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Holly (Ambrose) Manning and Robert Davis; and a great grandson, Cori Bass.

Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Waterloo with military rites conducted by the Cedar Falls Amvets Post 49.
