Biography--

Duane V. Tegtmeier, 83, of Shell Rock, Iowa, died at UnityPoint Health Allen Hospital, on September 25, 2017 of natural causes.

Duane was born on February 9, 1934 in Tripoli, son of Louis & Carrie (Weihe) Tegtmeier.

He graduated from Cedar Falls High School. He served in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge in 1957.

Duane married Rosemary Alice Parks, September 5, 1953 in Cedar Rapids.

Duane worked as a Lift Truck Mechanic in Department 7C, at John Deere Co. for 30 years until retiring on October 12, 1990.

He was a member of AMVETS Post 49, in Cedar Falls.

He is survived by three sons: Allen (Debra) Tegtmeier of Plattsmouth, NE, David (Tami) Tegtmeier of Cedar Rapids, and John (Robyn) Tegtmeier of Waterloo; two daughters, Sue (Ed) Baethke of Waterloo, and Diane Tegtmeier of Cedar Falls; by six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He as preceded in death by his parents; his wife; five brothers: Alois, Leo, Don, Dean, and Marvin Tegtmeier; and by two sisters, Rubye Fletcher and Vera Hardwick.

The family would like to thank the staff at UnityPoint Health – Allen hospital for the extraordinary care given to Duane.
