Loyal “Butch” Hoover, 75, of Vinton, died at his residence Wednesday, July 27, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
Per Butch’s request, there will be no services. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Butch was born September 27, 1946 at Hood River, OR, the son of George and Alice (Davis) Hoover. In 1970, Butch married Debra Brewer. She preceded him in death in 2008. Butch was employed by the City of Cedar Rapids in the sanitation department until his retirement in 1999.
In Butch’s own words, he would be the first to tell you he was a “jack of all trades and master of none”. With that as his trademark, Butch did find time to enjoy a little fishing, a little relaxing and a lot of beer!
Butch is survived by his daughter, Kim Schneider; five grandchildren: Evan Hoover, Nick Schneider, Morgan Schneider (Dameon Gray), Kayla Schneider (William Hines, Jr.) and Nash Schneider; and two great-grandchildren: Arya Gray and Harper Hines.
A memorial fund has been established.
