Mysterious Shooting

Vinton, Jan. 4. – I. N. Boyles, one of the best known and well-to-do-farmers in this county, residing about two miles from Marysville, ten miles northeast of here, killed himself accidentally or with suicidal intent yesterday in the public road a short distance from his home. He spent Wednesday in Marysville in attendance upon a shooting match and as far as could be discovered was in good spirits. He spent the last night at home and was to have assisted a neighbor yesterday to put up ice, and his wife prepared his dinner, which had been prepared for him by Mrs. Boyles. He took his gun with one shell in it and another in his pocket and started down the road. He was discovered soon after, about twenty-five rods from home, with the back of his head blown off and the gun lying across his body. A large piece of his skull was found sixty rod’s from where he lay. Coroner Kirkland made a full and careful survey and investigation of the affairs.
