Mrs. F. C. Miller

Mrs. F. C. Miller, one of the early settlers of Cameron township, died at her home in this city early Tuesday morning after a lingering illness. While it was known to the family and intimate friends that she could not recover from her illness, the news of her death came as a distinct shock to all of them.

Lydia Adelaide Fletcher was born in North Groton, N. H., Dec. 1, 1854 and died at her home in this city on the morning of June 6, 1916, aged sixty-one years, six months and five days. Her health has been impaired for several years past, but it was not until the past nine months that her condition was deemed serious.

The deceased was the daughter of Daniel and Lydia Fletcher, and came with her parents to Iowa in 1868, locating in Madison county. Feb. 21, 1882 she was united in marriage at Winterset to F. C. Miller, remaining in Madison county until 1884 when they came to Audubon county, locating in Cameron township where they continued to reside until the spring of 1911 when they moved to the city of Audubon. Two children were born to this union, Ai Miller and Ira Miller, both of whom are living near town.

Those who survive are the husband, two sons, Ai and Ira, one brother, Ai D. Fletcher of Winterset, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Francis Edmondson, of Orient, Iowa; four grandchildren, Frank and Marion and Fletcher and Kenneth.

Ai D. Fletcher, of Winterset, Henry Edmondson, of Orient, Mrs. J. E. Goar, of Des Moines; Mrs. J. S. Burnett, of Souris, Manitoba, Canada; Walter and Ray Edmondson, of St. Paul, Minnesota; relatives, and Mrs. J. N. Nunn, an intimate friend, of Jefferson, are here to attend the funeral.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Thursday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Jackson Giddens after which the remains will be interred in Maple Grove cemetery. – Audubon Republic
