Audubon County Journal
January 28, 1897, Page 4:

Death in all its cruel wantonness has craved another victim. It is sad indeed when one passes away in the bloom of youth, but it is still more deplorable when a mother is suddenly called away to leave her husband and loved ones. Mrs. Wm. Vigo died at her home east of Elkhorn last Friday night, the death of her infant babe occurring a few hours later. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, services conducted by Rev. P. Vig. A procession of over 200 people moved solemnly to the Elkhorn cemetery where the remains were tenderly laid at rest. The much lamented lady leaves a sorrowing husband and six small children to mourn her untimely demise Mr. Vigo's lot is indeed a sad one and the pangs of grief which have befallen him and his motherless little ones are such as claim the most sincere pity from a large circle of sympathizing friends and neighbors.
