Leroy Hensley Dead.

On last Sunday morning early Leroy
M. Hensley passed away. The deceased
was born in Fayette county.
Ohio, in 1845 and came to Iowa in 1854
and has been a resident of the State
ever since. He was married to Miss
Elizabeth Pilmer on February 14, 1872,
and by this union were born to them
seven children, one daughter and six
sons, the daughter and three of the
sons having preceded their father to
the spirit world. Mr. Hensley came
to Iowa in an early day and has
always taken a prominent part in the
political, financial and social affairs of
his community. It is said that no one
ever went to him for assistance that
lay in his power to grant without receiving
aid. Being the eldest of a
large family he naturally became the
leader among his brothers and sisters
and the younger members have long
looked to him as to a father for advice.
An obliging neighbor, a kind brother,
a kind husband and father, he will be
greatly missed. He leaves a wife,
three sons, one sister and five brothers
besides a host of relatives and friends
to mourn his loss. His funeral took
place at the M. E. church, in Exira,
on Monday, July 12th, amid one of the
largest concourses of people that ever
assembled on a like occasion in the
history of the town. The entire
community joins us in extending to
the bereaved relatives and friends our
heartfelt sympathy and prayers in
this hour of sorrow. He sleeps in the
beautiful Exira Hillside Cemetery.

L. H. HUMPHREY, Pastor.

Note: Parents of Leroy M. "Roy" Hensley were John Jackson Hensley and Martha Jane Popejoy. Leroy was married to Elizabeth Pilmer.
