Obituary - Formerly Ruth C. Hart, Later Mrs. Oliver Fossett She Was Known to Many in this Community

Word has been received here by Mrs. Kate Roby of North Seventh street, today telling of the death of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Oliver Fossett. Mrs. Fossett's death occurred at her home at 730 Cherry Street, Hammond, Indiana.

She had been ill for some time but it was not thought that she was in an immediately critical condition. Mr. Fossett had written to his mother here telling of his wife's illness and saying that an effort was being made to admit her to sanitarium treatment. Then followed the news today of her sudden death.

Mrs. Fossett was formerly Ruth Hart of Centerville. She united in marriage with Oliver Fossett as a young girl and 20 years ago had moved with her husband to Hammond. She is known to many here and news of her death comes as a shock and sorrow.

Note: Ruth C. (Hart) Fossett was born in in Centerville, Appanoose Co., Iowa 31 Jan 1898. She died in Hammond, Lake Co., Indiana, 23 Jan 1941, and is buried in the Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond. She was 42 years of age. The Certificate of Death shows that Ruth died of Pulmonary Tuberculosis. Her mother, Minnie (Horstman) Hart died of tuberculosis in 1907 at the age of 34.
