MRS. J. K. DUDLEY TAKEN BY DEATH
Well Known Resident of Exline Vicinity Died Christmas Day, End Coming Suddenly
Mrs. J. K. Dudley, for the past two years suffering an illness caused by a cancerous growth, died at the Dudley home 3 miles north of Exline at 12:30 p.m. Christmas day, at the age of 57 years
Mrs. Dudley had seemed as well as usual earlier in the day and had helped prepare the Christmas dinner. The meal over she was lying down for a rest when the husband left the house for a few moments. Returning he found her lying on the floor, dead. The rest of the family was away from home at the time.
Mrs. Dudley was born March 9, 1872, at Newton, Iowa. She was married December 23, 1894, to Jay. Kay. Dudley, 35 years ago last Monday. One child, Virgil, was born to this union, who with his wife and son Donald make their home with his parents. They have resided in their present home since 1897. Mrs. Dudley had also been a mother to Mrs. Lena Clemens-Davis, who was taken into the home when a small child. She now resides at Newton, Iowa.
Early in life deceased became a member of the Methodist church later transferring membership to the church of Christ and Exline, where she was ever active. She was also a member of the W. C. T. U. In her death the homeless as a devoted wife and mother, the community a kind and helpful neighbor and friend.
In addition to the immediate family she leaves one grandson, Donald, two brothers B. R. Henderson of Exline and Ed Henderson of Cincinnati, two sisters Francis Tenant of Trenton, Missouri, Mrs. Grace Brown of Chilcoat, Missouri a half brother, Thomas Henderson of kale, Colorado, three half-sisters Lydia Blackmer, Atwood, Kansas, Nancy Farmer of Kansas and Mary Ross of Washington state.
Funeral services Will be held from the Exline Christian church Friday afternoon with burial in the nearby cemetery.
