John Dean Fenton
April 17, 1949 ~ October 16, 2016 (age 67)

John Dean Fenton, age 67 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

John was born on April 17, 1949 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Orval and Dorothy (Houser) Fenton. He joined the United States Army, and was stationed in Louisiana, before being discharged. He married Linda Sue Ashby in 1969. They were later divorced. John then married Deborah Coffin. They also divorced. In 2006, he started dating Rose Crane.

John was the most caring and loving father, brother, grandparent, husband/significant other, and friend. He was loved by all that came in contact with him, and never made an enemy. He was a carpenter by trade, and a recreational mechanic. He could fix anything under the hood. He worked in Centerville and the surrounding areas as a carpenter.

You could often see him at a car show, normally falling in love with the vehicles around him, or associating with people alike. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, going to auto shows, and viewing/owning classic cars. He loved country music, especially going to the Rathbun Country Music Theatre for their shows.

John is survived by his significant other, Rose Crane of Centerville; his children, Lori (Mike) Thie of Sperry, Iowa, Jonathon (Tera) Fenton of Fort Dodge, Dean (Michelle) Fenton of Burlington, Andrew (Shandel) Fenton of Mystic, Iowa, and Chad Fenton of Centerville; a step daughter, Brenda (Justin) Selvy; Rose’s daughter, Candy (Rick) Hill of Moulton; a brother, David (Jean) Fenton of Moravia; a half-sister, Barbara Padavich of Centerville; an aunt, Gladys Houser of Centerville; a daughter-in-law, Janet Fenton, of Waterloo; 16 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; his dog, Daisey; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Dorothy Fenton; a son, Troy Fenton; an infant child, Tammy Sue Fenton; and a brother, Tommy Fenton.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Dennis Doud officiating. Burial will follow the service at Brushy Cemetery, North of Plano, Iowa. A Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, with family present from 5:00-7:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the John Fenton Memorial, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
