OBITUARY

Henry Denver Drake

Henry Denver Drake was born November 2, 1875 in Scotland county, Missouri. He was the son of Thomas and Susan Drake. At the age of six months they moved to a farm south and east of Exline where they lived for 36 years.

February 3, 1895 he was united in marriage to Miss Marcenia Slavin. To this happy, but short union, five children were born. Mrs. Drake and two sons were taken by death in 1901 leaving Mr. Drake, then a young man, with an aging mother and three small children which is faithful he reared, taking the place of father and mother. Farming in the summer and taking coal the winter.

He was again united in marriage August 13, 1918, to Mrs. Effie Mae Minor.

He departed this life June 21, 1948, at his home in west end of Mystic where he had lived for 20 years.

Mr. Drake had served as councilman in Mystic. He was an elder in the Christian church.

Mr. Drake suffered a stroke two years ago and has been in poor health ever cents. He was a kind and loving husband and father. A good neighbor and true to ones that knew him best loved him most.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, Effie: one daughter, Mrs. Hazel Cline of Kalamazoo, Michigan, two sons: Charles Drake, of Exline; Merl Drake, of Kalamazoo, Michigan; one step son, Newton May, of Peoria, Illinois; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

His children were at his bedside at his departure.

Funeral services were held at Mystic Christian Church Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. And from there also at the Zoar church at 3:30 PM conducted by the river and W. S. Tea. Evans, I was Centerville assisted by Reverend Walter of Missouri.

By his request he was laid to rest in the Zoar cemetery beside his first wife.
