William T. Pickinpaugh was born in Putnam County, Missouri, June 20, 1865 and departed this life at the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, February 1, 1941, age 75 years, seven months and 11 days. He was the son of Jacob and Elizabeth Pickinpaugh and the youngest of five children, two brothers and one sister having preceded him in death. His eldest brother, N. B. Pickinpaugh survives and his home is in Lucerne, Missouri.

On December 24, 1890, he was united in marriage to Minerva Johnson March 3, 1915. To this union one child was born, Mrs. O. Campbell of Davenport, Iowa.

On August 29, 1918, he was married to Zelda Viola Fenton, who survives.

Mr. Pickinpaugh United with the Methodist when 25 years of age and has ever been interested and helpful in the church work. 50 years of his life was spent in the interest of education, and he has taught in the public schools in Missouri and Iowa. He began his teaching career at the age of 16. He was very much appreciated in the schools and be loved by the students. The appreciation was shown by the cards, letters and flowers received from former students during his illness and his stay at the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Pickinpaugh came to Prescott to make their home about seven years ago and have made many friends. Mr. Pickinpaugh was known as a very upright and honorable man and a good friend and neighbor.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Campbell; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Ira Cross of Marathon, Iowa, and Mrs. Ernest Johnson of Bronson, Iowa; one brother, N. B.Pickinpaugh of Lucerne, Missouri, also four grandchildren and numerous relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Monday at the Methodist church conducted by a former pastor, Rev. R. V. Felt of Henderson, Iowa, assisted by Rev. A. J. Bissinger of Prescott, and burial was in the Promise city Cemetery.

Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Campbell of Davenport, and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Johnson of Bronson, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Dowell of Lucerne, Missouri, Mrs. A. Carpenter of Greenville, Iowa.
