Died, at Centerville, Iowa, April 10th, 1872, James Roland, infant son of D.T. and L.C. Bradley, aged 2 months and 8 days.

In heaven afar my darling has gone,
Out on the journey, alone, all alone;
I caught his last smile 'mid the gathering gloom,
In the valley of shadows that circle the tomb.
He lay on my knee with his hand clapped in mine,
While a glory shone around him that made him divine.
I knew pain was past - know the conflict was o'er;
And his cold feet were passing eternity's shore,
One moment of darkness, one feeling of dread.
And the angels twined wreaths around his radiant head.
