Cyrus Benton Badger

Cyrus Benton Badger, the son of Hiram Richard and Eleanor Badger, was born June 8, 1866, and departed this life April 20, 1949, being at the time of his death 82 years, 10 months and 12 days of age. He was born four miles north of Centerville, Iowa near a little village named Dennis. His early boyhood days were spent in that vicinity. When a lad of nine his parents moved to Putman county Missouri, near Chapel. As a young man he took up farming, later he entered the merchantile business which he coninued as long as his health permitted. On March 7, 1892, he was united in marriage to Dora A. Shinn. To this union two daughter werer born, Edna C. Davis of Moulton, and Bessie B. Hopkins, of Livonia, Mo. His wife died september 6, 1894. after the departure of his wife Mr. Badger and two daughters went to the home of his mother where they lived until the marriage of the daughters. In June, 1915, he was married to Sarah Taylor who departed this life on June 15, 1941. After her death he lived alone as long as health permitted. His entire life was spent in this viccinity except the last three years which was spent near Moulton. He is survived by his daughters, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also, one brother James B. Badger, of Moulton, Iowa, and one sister, Lucinda A. Stansberry, of Cincinnati, Iowa. A number of nieces and nephews and a host of freinds also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and five brother. Also one granddaughter and on greeat granddaughter. He never had his name on any church book but the last year of life was spent in reading and studing the work of God. He would not want the ones he loved to grieve for him today for he was ready and wanted to go. We must not say he is dead but just asleep. Funeral services were held at Chaple church in Missouri on Friday p.m. Aril 22 at two o'clock conducted by Bertah Porter assisted by Dr. P. V. Hart. Burial was in the cemetery nearby.
