New Albin, Iowa - Mrs. Luella Gerling, 61, a lifelong resident of Allamakee county, died at her home here Wednesday morning, from heart disease and complications which became acute only the last few days. Her health broke three years ago and from that time she has remained in rather poor health.

As Luella Carver, Mrs. Gerling was born Dec. 23, 1868, in northeastern Iowa, near Eitzen, Minn. She was married in 1893 to August Gerling, who passed away last July 24.

Mrs. Gerling is survived by two sons and two daughters: Erma, now Mrs. C.J. Buelow of Dubuque, Ruth of New Albin, Harold of Gordon's Ferry, and Howard of New Orleans, La.; three grandsons, Winton and Marcus Strumpell, and Howard Gerling, Jr.; two brothers, George Carver of Philadelphia, Pa., and Elmer Carver of Wymere, S.D.; and one sister, Mrs. Nettie Hart of Pierceton, Ind.

The funeral was held from the home at one o'clock Friday afternoon, with Rev. A.B. Gable officiating. Interment was at the New Albin cemetery.
