A Celebration of Life Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Elgin, Iowa for Linda Lee Johnson, age 68, of Elgin, Iowa who died on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union, Iowa. Rev. Lee Boleyn officiated and inurnment was in the Oakland Cemetery in Waukon, Iowa.

Linda Lee Johnson was born January 4, 1944 in Monona, Iowa to Walter and Dorothy (Barr) Gelo. She attended the Postville High School in Postville, Iowa. She married Dwayne Johnson on April 21, 1961. They were the parents of four sons. Linda was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Elgin and served as the Women's Ministry Sunshine Coordinator. She also belonged to various clubs and Fabricate Club.

Linda worked at the Elgin Canning Factory for several years until it closed. She also had her own daycare business in her home for over thirty years. Linda loved to collect rooster memorabilia and taking many drives through the countryside to explore. She had a fondness for trains and also enjoyed going to the church and "plunking" on the piano.

Linda Lee Johnson is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Dwayne; her sons Kevin (Debbie Thompson) Johnson of Des Moines, Iowa, Gregory (Carol) Johnson of Elgin, Brian (Kristi Brainard) Johnson of Decorah, Iowa, and Erik (Misty) Johnson of Clermont, Iowa; five grandchildren Jarrett, Kenneth, Ashton, Tanner, and Avery Johnson; step-grandchildren Nicki, Julian, and Cheyenne; her mother Dorothy Gelo of Postville; her siblings Shelby (Edwin) Erickson of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Larry (JoAnn) Gelo of Waukon, Iowa, Gordon (Jennifer) Gelo of Ray, Minnesota, Kristie (Paul) Roeder of Waukon, Dawn (Dale) Roney of Waukon, and James (Cathy) Gelo of Waukon in addition to many nieces and nephews.

Linda was preceded in death by her father, Walter Gelo; maternal grandparents Guy and Violet Barr; paternal grandparents Fred and Emma Gelo; sister-in-law Connie (Smith) Gelo and nephew Rhett Gelo.
