Mrs. K. V. Ferris Dies Last Week

BORN IN GERMANY; CAME TO IOWA IN CHILDHOOD’ WAS 69 YEARS OF AGE

Mrs. K. V. Ferris died last Wednesday, March 22nd at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Otto Hager of Ludlow township. She had been an invalid for many years.

Augusta Miller was born in Germany June 24, 1863. She came to America with her parents when she was four years old, and they settled in Wisconsin. She received her education in the rural and common schools of that state, and when a young lady she came to Iowa where she secured employment. On September 26, 1882, she married Kendrick Ferris in Waukon, and they celebrated their golden wedding last year.

Six children were born to them, one daughter, Ethel, having passed away in infancy. Two daughters, Mrs. Oscar Padden of Castalia and Mrs. Otto Hager of Ludlow township, and three sons, Ray of Mason City, Floyd of Lansing, and Earl of Miles City, Montana, together with the husband and father are left to mourn her death. She also is survived by one sister, address unknown, and two brothers, Fred of Woodland, California, and Lew F. Seeleg of Cedar Rapids.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:00 o’clock from the Hager home in Ludlow, by Reverend L. L. Bond, and from the Presbyterian church at 2:00 o’clock conducted by Reverend R. L. Van Nice, assisted by Reverend Bond. Interment was made in Oakland cemetery.
