Norma Luella Kruger, 74, of Monona, formerly of the Waukon area, died June 14, 1990, at Prairie Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wis.

Funeral services were June 16 at 2 p.m. at Salem United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Dr. Elsa Marsland officiating. Burial was at Salem Cemetery, with Martin's Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were Kenneth Sohn, Mike Koenig, James Koenig, Larry Koester, Dave Gerleman, and Dennis Koenig. Honorary pallbearers were Marie Smith, Helen Wagner, Wayne Venter, Ed Opfer, Duane Scheffert and Donald Hager.

She was born Nov. 17, 1915, in Ludlow Township, Allamakee County, at her parent's farm. She was the daughter of August H. and Martha Becker Snitker. She attended Ludlow No. 2 school, rural Waukon for eight years. She was a lifetime Allamakee County resident, having moved to Monona in 1978. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, and Women's Fellowship at Salem United Church of Christ.

She loved to travel, and had been to England, Scotland, Florida, California, Texas and Colorado. She also enjoyed eating out and dancing.

She married Niles John Kruger Aug. 12, 1944, at Salem United Church of Christ parsonage. He died Jan. 31, 1968.

She was a farmwife, homemaker, and worked at the Decorah Defense Plant during World War II. She also worked at Wapsie Produce in Decorah from 1960 to 1977, and raised Barred Rock roosters for 10 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Virgil (Debra) Thorstenson of Monona and Mrs. Donald (Donelle) Sherman of Waukon; two grandchildren, Kelly and Jon; four sisters, Mrs. Roy (Mildred) Sohn of Sheboygan, Wis., Mrs. Loraine Kruger of Decorah, Mrs. Loren (Ruby) Koenig of Postville and Mrs. Donald (LaVerne) Koester of West Union; a brother, Ralph Snitker of Waukon; and a brother-in-law, Leonard Koenig of Postville.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband; one daughter, Diane on June 9, 1967; two sisters, Inez Gerleman and Florence Koenig; and a brother in infancy.

Martin's Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
