Oscar Fitzallen Ferris

Oscar was the son of Warren Ferris (1793-1852) and Betsey Elizabeth Vail (1796-1882). Oscar was born in New York on March 10, 1829. He married Silpha Kellicut in 1853. She was the daughter of George Kellicut and Delilah Brooks of New York.

The 1860 U. S. Federal Census, Oscar and Silpha and their son George were living in Allamakee County, Iowa. He listed his occupation as miller.

Oscar and his brother Mortimer Churbray Ferris were the owners of Ferris Mills. Oscar was appointed U. S. Postmaster on February 10, 1875 with the establishment of the Hanover Post Office at Ferris Mills.

Oscar and Silpha Ferris were the parents of two children.

George (1857-1937) married Lovenia Bartley (1870-1952)

Hattie May (1862-1935) married William P. Clark (1867-1903)
