Arthur Roberts was born in Clay county, Indiana, July 24th, 1853, and died at his home at Middle river, May 8th, 1909; age 55 years, 10 months and 14 days. While an infant, his parents moved to Adair county, Iowa, where he grew to manhood.
In 1880 he was married to Maggie Weaver, with one daughter, three sons, two brothers, and six sisters mourn the loss of a husband, father and brother. The living children are Lillie, Ray, Frankie, Elmer and Alva.
Mr. Robertsí parents were pioneer members of the Christian church, to which he clung, refusing to unite with any other, and as there was none near his home, he was not a member of any church at the time of his death.
The funeral services were held from the M. E. church at Middle river, conducted by Rev. E. E. Bennett of the Winterset Christian church, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Roberts cemetery.
