Susan M. Blomquist, 60, of Stuart passed away at the Greenfield Manor in Greenfield on Wednesday, November 21st. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 1st at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Stuart. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 30, at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in rural Stuart. Memorial contributions can be made to the Susan Blomquist Memorial Fund, in care of, Johnson Family Funeral Home, Box 246, Stuart, IA 50250. Susan (Sue) Marie Blomquist, 60, of Stuart passed away at the Greenfield Manor in Greenfield on Wednesday, November 21st. Susan was born January 13, 1952 to Hubert and Vivian Dahl in Mason City, IA. Her early years were spent in Iowa. Her family later moved to St. Louis and then on to Arkansas before coming back to Iowa to finish her high school years. After high school Sue went to New Tribes Bible Institute in Waukesha, WI for several years. After completing her education there, she spent five years in Papua New Guinea as a linguist. Upon returning to the United States, she studied at the University of Northern Iowa, where she graduated with highest honors in elementary education. After working and teaching several years at Stanzel Christian School, she married Francis Blomquist in 1986. In 1991, their daughter Joanna was born.

She spent her entire married life on the farm helping wherever she could. She enjoyed gardening, music, cooking, and especially reading, often being in the middle of two or three books at once. Sue also was really good at organizing events, and enjoyed volunteering in her daughter's school, teaching Sunday School, and being part of the Community Choir in Stuart. She held the position of secretary-treasurer for several organizations at Bethel Baptist Church as well.

She was preceded in death by her father Hubert Dahl and father-in-law Milford Blomquist.

She is survived by her husband Francis Blomquist; daughter: Joanna Blomquist; mother: Vivian Dahl; mother-in-law: Jessie Blomquist; siblings: Tom Dahl, Dwayne (Tammy) Dahl, Judy (Stefan) Colliflower, Donna (Stan) Miller; and many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
