John immigrated with a brother, Martin and at least two sisters, Abbey and Ellen in 1853. They arrived in New York where they stayed briefly with an Uncle, John Cooney in Coxsackie, Green County, NY. They headed west to Woodstock, McHenry County, Illinois, where they lived for several years with another uncle, Martin Cooney, before arriving in Winneshiek County, Iowa ab out 1860. - information from Tim Daly - www.strandnet.com

HANNAH CULLINAN:

 

Hannah immigrated in 1850 to New York City and spent several years there and in Wheeling, Wes t Virginia before moving west to Chicago. After marriage the couple lived in Fulton, Illinoi s prior to settling on the farm on the upper Iowa River in Winneshiek County. In all legal do cuments (land,court records) her maiden name is given as Collinson, perhaps due to a missunde rstanding by immigration agents. Hannah is buried in St. Kierans Cemetery, next door to the f amily homestead.

 

  • Margarite Daley was born in , Ireland. She married Jeremiah Hurley in , Ireland. He was born 1797 in Kilbeggean, Co Galway, Ireland, and died July 13, 1872 in Near Elkader, Clayton, Iowa,
