Joel Gordon Viles

Mr. Gordon Viles, an old and respected citizen of Shellsburg, died at his home in that city last Wednesday, aged nearly 73 years. He settled in Canton township in 1853 and has resided ever since that date in this county. He leaves a widow, son and daughter and grandchildren.

Died VILES
Sarah Diana FROST (Mrs. J.S. VILES)

VILES--Sarah D. Frost, wife of J. S. Viles died April 28, 1879, aged 44 years, 8 months, and 14 days.

She was born in Rensselaerville, N.Y.; removed to Wisconsin in 1850; married June 9, 1860; moved to Eden township in 1864. She united with the M.E. Church in 1856 and was one of the first members of the First Eden M.E. Church. She was a good woman and the whole community as well as the Church and her family have sustained a loss in her death. Her funeral was preached from Rev. 14:13 to a large and deeply affected audience. L.S. KEAGLE.
