Jesse Shaull, 79, Dies at la Porte

LA PORTE CITY - Jesse Shaull, 79, formerly of Shellsburg, died of a heart attack Sunday afternoon at the home of his son in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kuhn, with whom he made his home.

He was born March 23, 1888, in Ohio, a son of David M. and Amanda J. Shaull, and moved to Marengo with his parents when a small child and lived in and around Marengo and Ladora until his marriage to Hazel Moulds when he moved to Shellsburg. He made his home in Shellsburg until five years ago when he went to La Porte City to live with his daughter, Mr. Shaull was employed at Wilson Packing Company until his retirement.

Besides his daughter he is survived by one grandson Emery Kuhn, two great grandchildren of La Porte City, and one brother, Joe Shaull of Ladora. He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter Lois May and 11 brothers and sisters. Mr. Shaull was a World War I veteran and a member of the Shellsburg American Legion post and the VFW post of La Porte City.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 27, at 2 p.m., in the Grace Trinity Church in Shellsburg with Rev. Cloyce Wentworth officiating and burial will be in the Shellsburg cemetery.

The body is at the Johannsen-Rossow funeral home where friends may call.

John Shaull Funeral At Blairstown Tuesday

Special to the Gazette.

Blairstown - John Shaull, 75, who had farmed south of Blairstown for 40 years, died Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Shaull celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last April.

Surviving are two sons, Clellan and Lloyd, both of Blairstown; two daughters, Mrs. Lester Stewart of Luzerne and Mrs. H. D. Hixon of Waterloo; one sister, Mrs. John Davis, of Williamsburg; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Presbyterian church. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
