Jeanette Charlier

Jeanette, Charlier, age 95, died Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, January 6, 2007 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E 6th St. in Vinton, with Rev Leonard Ranson officiating. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery near Shellsburg.

Jeanette was born Oct 4, 1911 at Dunsmuir, CA to Claud and Clara (Johnson) Gillam and graduated from High School in Brandon, Iowa in 1929. On March 2, 1930, she married Edward "Ed" T. Charlier at Brandon. The couple made their first home in Cedar Rapids before moving to a farm north of Shellsburg. In 1960 they retired and moved into Shellsburg. They enjoyed their winter months in McAllen, Texas for over twenty years. Ed preceded his wife in death on March 22, 1999 and Jeanette resided in Shellsburg until 2006 when she moved to the Hiawatha Care Center.

Jeanette was an avid Cubs Baseball fan and enjoyed crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her sons, Darrel (Barbara)Charlier of Marion, Ronald (Sandra) Charlier of Hiawatha and Lyle (Sharon)Charlier of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Debra Charlier, Dawn Charlier, Kimgerly (Rich) Mason, Tamara (Jason)Hoover, Steve (Susan) Charlier, David (Carla) Charlier, John (Keri) Charlier and Denise (David) Judas; her great-grandchildren, Scott (Genee) Mason, Jennifer Mason, Daniel Charlier, Shawna Hoover, Evan Hoover, Alexandra Charlier, Madison Charlier, Grayson Charlier, and Kevin Judas; her Great-great-grandchildren, Makayla Mason; and her brother, Donald (Helene) Gillam of Bozeman, MT.
