Jerome School
Pictures submitted by Brenda Baxter. Her grandfather, Willam Robert Baxter was born in Jerome in 1905 and graduated from Jerome High School in 1921.

This building was the 3rd school building of 5 that were built at the same location, the northeast of the corner of the North-South Road (now 135th Ave.) and Main Street (now 524th St.) it was built around 1890 and burned down in May of 1920. The next new school builing was completed in 1922/1923.
The Jerome school had its last classes of students in the 1958-1959 school year. After that, the rural schools were consolidated and students could attend Centerville or Seymour. As Jerome was eventually rolled into the Seymour school system, most students went to the Seymour schools. After the school was closed, it also was used for a few years by the Lincoln Luckies 4-H club.
