Health notes
The Health Crusader Chores is being actively taught in a large number of the rural schools with the most splendid results. The teachers who have not as yet taken up the Health Crusade work in their schools, materials may be obtained by writing to the Iowa T.B. Association, 518 Century Bldg., Des Moines, Iowa., and they will send materials with detailed information relative to how the work may be attractively taught.

Martha Kugel of Ludlow No.8 has given a very fine report of what the pupils are doing along the lines of health. All the pupils who Mrs. Gronlid found had physical defects have had them corrected.

The pupils enjoy doing the Health Chores, each day, because they believe that it makes for better health and happiness and in a short time they will be 100 percent physically fit.

Mrs. Hopkins of Ludlow No.2 has given a similar report. The pupils are doing splendid work because they believe health keeping and doing makes for a better chance to do more efficient work.

Our Health Code
A good American tries to gain and keep his health.

1. Morning, noon and night I will clean my teeth.
2. I will breathe pure air.
3. I will breathe pure air, chew slowly and thoroughly.
4. I will drink plenty of pure water.
5. I will think happy thoughts.
6. I will sleep at least 10 hours each night.
7. I will always remember to be a true, loyal citizen; therefore I must keep a pure mind and a pure body.
8. Cleanliness is the key note.

The County Agent of Allamakee organized a Poultry Club in school district No.2, Ludlow township on April 7th. The club starts with a membership of eleven boys and girls. Each member must set at least two settings of 15 eggs each before the first of May, or they may purchase thirty chicks before May 15th. And Secretary Helming of the County Fair will offer liberal premiums and if the interest warrants is willing to give the poultry club exhibitors a tent devoted entirely to club exhibits of poultry. President Hager of the Farm Bureau will offer prizes for the best flock as a whole.

Ludlow No. 2 - school notes
The following pupils have had records of perfect attendance the fourth six weeks period: Lorna Winke, Jean Kugel, Zola Reinhardt, Marjorie Winke, and Vivian Reinhardt.

Merlin Kruger, Jean Kugel and Florence are on the dental honor roll. We hope we may add all the names before the end of the year.

We enjoyed a visit from Veria Kugel and Margaret Reinhardt. Margaret was a former pupil who is now attending the Helming School.

The fifth and sixth grades had a contest in language. The pupils who had the highest average received prizes. Jean Kugel of the fifth grade was the winner with an average of 97% and Vivian Reinhardt of the sixth grade with an average of 92%. We will try to improve the next six weeks. -Florence Snitker.

Sliding is our favorite sport this winter. We hope we will have more weather like this as it is excellent for sliding. -Vivian Reinhardt.

Zola Reinhardt received a picture booklet representing six months of perfect attendance.

Ludlow No. 2 - school notes
We have had a week of Christmas vacation and are now back in school with the New Year's resolution to work harder than we did the previous year.

Before Christmas we presented a program to our parents. This was composed of recitations, dialogues, acrostics and songs. We had a tree with presents for everyone.

We each contributed to the double-barred crosses and are very proud of our pins.

The following pupils have been neither absent nor tardy this year: Jean Kugel, Lorna Winke and Marjorie Winke.

We are initiating our new sleds by going sliding.

We have learned all the choir songs required for this year and are now diligently working on the theory work in music. We are keeping notebooks, too.

We the pupils and teachers of Ludlow No.2, wish everyone a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

Ludlow No. 2 - school notes
All aboard for "Knowledge Land" was our cry Monday morning, August 10. We have been aboard our ship, "Ludlow No.2," for six weeks now. The first discovery we made this year was several new text books. One of our big aims this year is to work for higher grades and improvement in all subjects and especially penmanship. The first and second graders are making some very attractive A,B,C riddle books. We have learned several of the new choir songs. At present we are learning "Slumber Boat." We are also starting a Health Series Contest which is between the Hiawathas and the Zephyrs. A player may place ten extra points on his side with the dentist's signature on his yellow dental card. Each one of us spent a very enjoyable day at our County Fair. We had ten visitors so far this year: Harriet Goeke, Delores and Marian Kruger, Anna Mae Dougal, Vivian Goettel, Arlo Hilmer, Margaret and Zola Reinhardt, June Hanke and Vernie Flags.

Monday we will set sail into a new six weeks where we will find some more interesting facts and projects in "Knowledge Land."
